Mat Pilates at The Lab- Abdominals

DREA PORTRAIT 2 BWMat Pilates at The Lab held on Monday mornings from 9am-10am focuses on abdominal work.  Participants can chose to bring their own mat or borrow one provided by The Lab.  This abdominal Mat Pilates class defines and tones the abdominal muscles while strengthening the back to improve posture and core strength.

For the early riser, there is also the option to participate in an eight week clinic.  The series runs from 5:45am-7:15am.  Forty-five minutes is abdominal focused core work followed by an optional casual sunrise run along the ocean.

Most participants opt for a post class Cryotherapy Session at The Lab.  What is Cryotherapy?  During Whole-Body Cryotherapy (WBC) the body is exposed to ultra-low temperatures (-200 to -240 F), triggering a systemic anti-inflammatory response. Studies conducted over the last two decades have established WBC as a powerful treatment for inflammatory disorders and injuries. Professional athletes have been using WBC as a treatment to decrease recovery time and increase athletic performance. The accelerated production of collagen improves skin elasticity and texture, reversing skin aging and the appearance of cellulite. WBC has also been known to boost the body’s metabolic rate, accelerating weight loss outcomes. Clients also report that the experience is invigorating and improves a variety of conditions such as psychological stress, insomnia, rheumatism, muscle and joint pain, fibromyalgia, and psoriasis.*

The combo between a challenging Pilates based abdominal class and a deep freeze Cryotherapy treatment leaves clients relaxed and ready to roll.  This really is a must try.

  1. Not sure which class I am supposed to sign up for… at the running store early early on Fridays or the Lab at a more reasonable time. Are the classes basically the same in content and cost?

I am so completely out of core shape… it will hurt no matter what, but sign me up for one or the other.
